Baltimore, Maryland – Heat is surging across Maryland and the D.C. metro Monday, with temperatures nearing 100 degrees and heat indices climbing as high as 110° in several cities. The National Weather Service has issued Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories for most of the region through this evening.
According to the NWS Baltimore/Washington office, cities including Baltimore, Rockville, Frederick, and Washington, D.C. will see heat index values between 105° and 110° through at least 8 p.m. Monday. Cumberland, Hagerstown, and areas near the Blue Ridge will also feel the brunt, though temperatures in the mountains will stay slightly cooler, in the 80s to low 90s.
Extreme humidity and mostly sunny skies are compounding the risk of heat-related illness. Residents are urged to stay indoors when possible, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets. The intense heat may strain utilities and impact outdoor events and transit systems.
The heat dome responsible for this spike is part of a broader pattern impacting much of the Mid-Atlantic. This marks one of the hottest days so far in June 2025 for the region.
Heat alerts remain in effect until 8 p.m. Monday, with additional advisories possible if conditions persist.
