Marquette, MI – Residents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should prepare for a mix of rain and snow this week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Marquette reports that light rain will gradually taper off to the northeast tonight. Winds will also ease, with temperatures dipping to lows of 32 to 42 degrees.

Rain will return Wednesday morning in the eastern UP, spreading west by the afternoon. Some wet snow may mix in during the evening hours, particularly in higher elevations. Highs will range from 38 to 47 degrees.

By Thursday, the region will see more widespread rain and wet snow, with precipitation tapering off in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation is expected to range from half an inch to an inch across most areas. However, Baraga County and surrounding areas could see up to 2 inches of heavy, wet snow.

Drivers are urged to use caution as road conditions could become slippery, especially in areas seeing snow accumulation.
