Greenville, SC – An arctic cold front is set to sweep through the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia on Wednesday. The blast will usher in frigid air and gusty winds, creating potentially dangerous wind chill conditions by Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Greenville-Spartanburg, wind chills will drop into the teens in mountainous areas Wednesday and Thursday nights. Other regions will experience wind chills in the 20s and 30s. Gusts up to 50 mph are also expected in higher elevations, further increasing the cold’s impact.

The NWS advises residents to limit outdoor exposure and secure loose objects due to the strong winds. Layers and insulated clothing are recommended for those venturing outside. Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly by the weekend, though freezing conditions could linger.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates and prepare for the incoming cold. Local officials emphasize the importance of checking on vulnerable neighbors and ensuring pets are sheltered.
