Saginaw, MI – A brief but disruptive bout of winter weather is expected to sweep through portions of Southeast Michigan early Wednesday, bringing snow, ice and strong wind gusts to several communities, including Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday, with up to 2 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice anticipated. Winds may gust up to 35 mph after sunrise, increasing the risk of slick spots and reduced visibility for early morning travelers.

The advisory covers Midland, Bay, Huron, Saginaw, Tuscola, and Sanilac counties. Forecasters warn that untreated roadways could become slippery, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.

While snow and ice accumulation is expected to be relatively light, rapid melting will occur by afternoon, reducing long-term impacts. However, brief disruptions to travel, especially in rural areas, remain likely.

Motorists are advised to drive slowly, allow extra braking distance, and check MDOT’s Michigan Drive Map for live road updates. This late-season wintry mix comes ahead of a warmer air mass expected to bring late-day thunderstorms by Wednesday evening.
