Nashville, TN – Tennessee will face multiple rounds of severe weather beginning Wednesday morning, with officials warning of damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Nashville, strong thunderstorms are expected to begin as early as 10 a.m. Wednesday and persist through the weekend. A severe storm threat is concentrated in northwest Tennessee Wednesday night, with tornado potential peaking between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

The heaviest rainfall—up to 10 inches—is expected from Clarksville to Waverly, with localized river flooding likely. A sharp gradient in totals could leave parts of southeast Tennessee with minimal rain, while the northwest faces significant flash flood risks. Flash flood watches may be issued.

In addition to thunderstorms, non-storm winds could reach 45 mph, especially Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday. Residents are urged to secure lightweight outdoor items to prevent damage or injury.

By Thursday, the severe weather threat continues statewide. Residents should have multiple ways to receive alerts, avoid flood-prone areas, and delay travel if possible.

Prepare now for a prolonged period of active weather and stay informed through local emergency updates.
