Marquette, MI – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula from Wednesday morning through early Thursday, bringing snow and strong winds that could create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Delta, Luce, Schoolcraft, Gogebic, and Menominee counties can expect between 2 and 6 inches of snow, with the highest accumulations further inland. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, creating blowing snow and reducing visibility.

The advisory is in place from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. EDT Thursday for most affected areas, though in Menominee County, the advisory begins an hour earlier at 9 a.m. CDT. Gogebic County’s advisory will end by 10 p.m. CDT Wednesday.

The winter conditions may significantly impact the Wednesday evening commute, particularly in areas with higher snow totals. Officials urge drivers to slow down, use caution, and prepare for slippery roads.

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts for updates and prepare for winter driving conditions as the storm moves through the region.
