Marquette, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Marquette and Alger counties until 7 a.m. Thursday, with up to 3 inches of additional snowexpected overnight. Hazardous travel conditions are likely, especially during the Thursday morning commute, as snow and ice create slick roads and reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, lake-effect snow will continue through early Thursday, accompanied by north winds up to 10 mph and wind chills near zero degrees. Drivers should plan for extra travel time and use caution on untreated roads.
Thursday’s snow showers will taper off by mid-morning, with highs reaching 21°F. Winds will shift northwest, helping to clear conditions by the afternoon. Friday brings relief with mostly sunny skies and a high of 29°F, while Saturday remains cloudywith temperatures holding near 31°F.
A warming trend arrives Sunday, with highs climbing to 36°F. However, melting snow may lead to slushy road conditions, and a rain-snow mix is possible. By next week, temperatures may reach near 40°F, signaling a break from the Arctic cold.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully and stay updated on weather alerts.
