Gaylord, Michigan – Sunny skies and comfortable conditions will linger across most of Michigan through Saturday, but a shift is on the horizon as rain showers are expected to return late Sunday into Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a few light showers may clip the eastern Upper Peninsula on Friday, but otherwise the state will enjoy mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to upper 70s through Saturday. By Sunday, increasing clouds will signal the arrival of the next weather system, bringing rain to much of the region late in the day and continuing into Monday.

In northern beach areas, including Lake Michigan and Lake Huron shorelines, swim risks will remain low through the weekend, with wave heights holding at or below 2 feet. Highs will range from 65°F to 76°F depending on location, but water temperatures will remain quite cold, posing a risk for swimmers despite the calm surf.

Beachgoers should continue to monitor lake conditions, especially as rain develops Sunday evening. Inland, cities like Traverse City, Petoskey, and Alpena could see rain impacting travel and outdoor events by late Sunday.

Rain is expected to continue into early next week, with cooler temperatures persisting statewide. Further updates may follow as the system develops.
