Tampa, Florida – Florida’s summer heat cranks up again today with inland areas of Tampa Bay expected to hit the lower to mid-90s, while coastal regions hold in the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, light west-southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph will offer little relief as drier, hot conditions dominate. A chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms remains in play this afternoon, with the best chances across interior counties like Polk, Highlands, and eastern Pasco.

While no severe weather is expected, brief downpours or gusty winds could develop where storms form. Beachgoers and outdoor workers along Pinellas and Sarasota counties should stay hydrated and watch for rapid weather changes.

Residents inland are urged to limit strenuous activity during peak heat and monitor weather alerts through the evening. Afternoon thunderstorms could briefly impact road visibility and slow commutes along I-75 and US-301.

Temperatures remain high through the weekend, with more storm chances ahead.
