Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents can look forward to a mild and dry Christmas Day, with temperatures hovering near 37 degrees. However, rain is expected to make a return later this week, bringing wet conditions heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, Christmas Day will remain mostly cloudy with light winds, making for comfortable holiday travel conditions. The high is forecast near 37 degrees, with evening lows dropping to 31. Wednesday will see a continuation of dry weather under cloudy skies.

Looking ahead, Thursday will bring highs around 40 degrees and increasing cloud cover. A chance of rain arrives by Friday afternoon, with temperatures climbing to 44 degrees. Rain is expected to persist into Saturday, with highs reaching 52. The weekend forecast suggests rain will likely dominate, accompanied by lows in the upper 40s.

Motorists should plan for wet roadways and slower travel times later in the week, particularly on I-94 and major metro roadways. Those heading out for post-Christmas activities or shopping should keep umbrellas and waterproof gear handy.

Despite the upcoming rain, temperatures are expected to remain mild for late December, offering relief from severe winter conditions. The extended outlook also points to continued precipitation into Sunday and Monday, with highs staying in the low-to-mid 50s.
