Michigan – A strong cold front is moving across Michigan today, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms, and much cooler temperatures into the weekend. The cold air will trigger lake-effect rain, especially near Lake Superior, with some areas in northern and western Michigan seeing lows plunge into the mid-30s by this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Marquette and the Upper Peninsula are bracing for lake-effect rain tonight and Friday, while northern Michigan, including Gaylord and Grand Rapids, will experience showers by this afternoon. By Friday, temperatures are forecast to drop statewide, with highs only reaching the low 50s to mid-60s.

Residents should prepare for overnight lows dipping into the 30s in some interior areas, particularly in the Upper Peninsula and northern regions. Those with outdoor plans should stay updated on weather conditions, as scattered thunderstorms could persist into Friday night. While the skies are expected to clear by Saturday, cool temperatures will continue through Sunday, with highs barely reaching the low 70s across the state.

Michigan residents should monitor weather updates and take precautions, especially as temperatures fall overnight.
