Wilmington, DE – Delaware State Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly assaulted and robbed a bank patron preparing to make a deposit at a Wilmington-area PNC Bank Sunday night.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday to the PNC Bank at 2203 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington following a reported robbery.
Investigators said the victim was preparing to make a deposit when an unknown suspect approached. According to police, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim and demanded money.
A brief struggle followed before the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said. Police did not provide a description of the suspect or say how the person escaped from the area.
The victim went to an area medical facility and was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. No additional details about the victim were released.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities have not announced an arrest as of Monday morning.
Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity around the bank Sunday night or has other information relevant to the New Castle County investigation to come forward.
