Grand Rapids, MI – Strong winds are sweeping across western Michigan on Thursday, prompting a Wind Advisory for multiple counties until 2 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, north winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected to impact Mecosta, Osceola, Allegan, Ottawa, Van Buren, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana counties.

Residents should secure outdoor objects as the gusty winds may cause tree limbs to fall, potentially leading to localized power outages. Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should use caution on highways due to strong crosswinds.

Cities such as Muskegon, Holland, Grand Haven, and South Haven may experience dangerous wind conditions, impacting travel and outdoor activities. Winds are expected to gradually subside after mid-afternoon.

Authorities recommend staying indoors if possible and reporting any downed power lines to local utility providers.
