Detroit, MI – A rain-snow mix is expected to move into southeast Michigan Sunday evening, bringing slushy snow accumulations and gusty winds to Detroit and surrounding areas through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac office, light snow totals between 1 to 2 inches are possible across the Tri-Cities region, including Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland. Snow will likely remain on elevated or grassy surfaces, with the heaviest bursts occurring in the Thumb and Tri-Cities late Sunday into early Monday.

Breezy conditions will accompany the precipitation, with west-southwest winds gusting up to 40 mph Monday. Temperatures will hover in the low to mid-40s Sunday and drop to the upper 20s overnight, contributing to potentially slick conditions during Monday’s morning commute.

Communities including Flint, Pontiac, Howell, and Port Huron are also forecasted to see up to 1 inch of accumulation. Motorists are advised to use caution, especially in areas where snow may reduce visibility or coat untreated roads.

The unsettled pattern continues into midweek, with partly cloudy skies and highs ranging from the upper 30s to mid-50s Tuesday through Thursday. Residents should monitor local updates and allow extra time for travel Monday morning.
