Detroit, MI — A significant cold front has settled over Michigan, bringing below-normal temperatures and isolated rain showers today. The National Weather Service warns residents, especially near Lake Huron’s Thumb shoreline, to prepare for lake-effect rain showers and potential frost. Cold temperatures will persist through Thursday, with morning lows dropping near freezing.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures today will range from the mid-40s to low 50s. Isolated rain showers will be most prevalent inland and near Lake Huron. Residents commuting along I-75 should remain cautious as wet road conditions and the potential for frost increase in the early mornings. By Thursday, lows could dip into the 30s, especially in cities like Adrian and Flint, which may result in frost, particularly on rural and elevated roadways.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will see partly cloudy skies with occasional rain showers, mainly along the Lake Huron shoreline. Wednesday and Thursday bring cold morning temperatures, dipping near freezing, before gradually warming throughout the day. Drivers should stay alert for frost on bridges and overpasses, particularly during the early morning hours. By Thursday afternoon, skies should clear, but nighttime lows remain dangerously cold.
