Michigan – Damp ground and lingering standing water near rivers are creating uneven travel conditions this morning across northern Michigan, even as sunshine begins to take hold.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, localized flooding continues near rivers, lakes, and low-lying drainage areas. Water levels remain elevated, especially in Otsego County and surrounding regions, and will only slowly recede through Thursday. Drivers along M-32, I-75 corridors, and rural roads may encounter water pooling in ditches and shoulders.

Gaylord is warming quickly today, with sunshine pushing temperatures to 64°F and calm winds making for a quieter stretch. That brief dry window offers a chance to reset—clear drains, check sump pumps, and avoid flooded paths.

Conditions shift again late Thursday into Friday. Moisture increases, and showers become more likely after 5 p.m. Friday, with rain chances rising to 60%. By Friday night, coverage expands further, with a 70% chance of steady rain. Wet pavement, reduced visibility, and patchy fog could slow travel, especially on darker rural highways.

Saturday stays unsettled, with a 30% chance of showers and highs near 53°F. Cooler air follows, and while no snow is expected, temperatures dipping into the 30s overnight raise the risk of slick spots in shaded areas if moisture lingers.

Five Day Outlook for Gaylord, Michigan:

Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 69°F
Friday: Showers developing late, high 64°F
