Detroit, Michigan – Southeast Michigan is settling into several days of comfortable summer weather, offering a break from recent heat as below-average temperatures and dry conditions continue through Saturday before the next opportunity for rain arrives late in the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, high pressure will keep skies mostly dry across the region through Saturday. Afternoon temperatures will remain cooler than average, with highs reaching 73 to 76 degrees Wednesday, warming into the mid to upper 70s Thursday and upper 70s to lower 80s Friday. Overnight lows will dip into the 50s, providing cool mornings across much of southeast Michigan.
The dry stretch will benefit communities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Pontiac, Monroe and Port Huron, creating favorable conditions for construction projects, outdoor recreation and travel. Residents may want a light jacket during the early morning hours, especially Thursday and Friday when temperatures fall into the lower and middle 50s in some locations.
A warming trend begins Saturday as afternoon highs climb into the mid-80s, with overnight temperatures rising into the 60s. The next chance for precipitation is expected Saturday night into Sunday, when showers and thunderstorms could develop as warmer, more humid air returns to the region. Sunday’s highs are forecast to reach 84 to 90 degrees.
