Grand Rapids, MI – A chilly start to the week brings overcast skies, brisk north winds, and temperatures barely reaching the mid-20s in Grand Rapids today. Residents should prepare for icy winds gusting up to 20 mph, making conditions feel even colder. Despite the gray skies, brief glimpses of sunshine may emerge this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will hover around 22 degrees, with a noticeable drop into the teens tonight. While no precipitation is expected today, cold and calm conditions will dominate the start of the week.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will remain mostly cloudy with highs near 28. Snow chances increase late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with a 50% chance of snow showers on Wednesday. Midweek highs will peak at 23 degrees before another frigid plunge into single digits overnight.

By Thursday, skies clear slightly, bringing mostly sunny conditions and highs of 25 degrees. The respite will be short-lived as clouds return Friday with the possibility of afternoon snow showers and highs near 26.

Travelers and commuters should remain cautious as temperatures stay below freezing all week, increasing the likelihood of icy roads, particularly along major routes like I-96. Prepare for winter driving conditions, especially on Wednesday, when snow may impact visibility and traction.

Bundle up and keep an eye on the forecast as Michigan braces for midweek snowfall and continued Arctic winds.
