Detroit, MI – A narrow window of showers and possible thunderstorms could disrupt late morning travel across southeast Michigan, with wind gusts up to 40 mph expected between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a cold front moving through the region will trigger a line of showers or isolated thunderstorms during that four-hour stretch. While widespread severe weather is not expected, gusty west winds reaching 30 to 40 mph could create hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Metro Detroit, including Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Pontiac, will likely see the most noticeable impacts during the late morning commute. Brief downpours may reduce visibility on major routes like I-75, I-94, and M-59, while wind gusts could blow debris onto roadways.
Further north toward Flint and Port Huron, conditions may arrive slightly later but will follow a similar pattern with quick-moving showers and gusty winds.
Drivers should secure loose items, keep both hands on the wheel, and allow extra space between vehicles during gusty conditions.
Rain chances taper off quickly after early afternoon, with calmer and drier weather expected later in the day. Additional updates will follow if conditions intensify.
