Marquette, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the eastern Upper Peninsula from 1 PM Thursday to 7 AM Friday, bringing lake-effect snow and strong winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, affected areas include Alger, Luce, and Northern Schoolcraft counties, including Munising, Grand Marais, and Newberry. Snowfall could total up to 5 inches, with wind gusts up to 45 mph, leading to blowing and drifting snow.

Travelers should prepare for reduced visibility and slippery roads during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds may also bring down tree branches and power lines.
