Michigan Upper Peninsula – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, bringing heavy snow and dangerous wind chills through early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, areas north of a line from Pictured Rocks to Pine Stump Junction could see up to 10 inches of snow. Counties under the advisory include Alger, Luce, and Northern Schoolcraft. Winds are expected to create blowing snow, reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.

Wind chills are forecast to drop as low as -35°F Monday night into Tuesday. These conditions significantly increase the risk of frostbite on exposed skin within minutes. The advisory lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Travelers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. Motorists should carry winter survival kits, including blankets and food, in case of emergencies. Residents are encouraged to avoid extended time outdoors and ensure pets are protected from the cold.

Road conditions may deteriorate, particularly during morning and evening commutes. Officials recommend checking road status updates before heading out.

For those in affected areas, warming centers may be available. Contact local authorities for information about resources in your community.
