Frenchtown Township, MI – A Monroe man was killed Sunday evening after a single-vehicle crash in Frenchtown Township, authorities said.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:35 p.m. Sunday to the 3100 block of Fourth Street, west of Bronson Street. Preliminary reports indicate 75-year-old Michael J. Procy was driving a 2023 Ford F-150 eastbound when he left the roadway for unknown reasons, striking several vehicles and posts.
Sheriff Troy Goodnough’s office said Procy reentered the road but drifted off again, hitting a tree. He was ejected from the pickup before it rotated counterclockwise and came to rest on private property. Procy, who had been wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple airbags in the vehicle deployed.
Authorities said alcohol use remains undetermined at this time. The Michigan State Police, Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit all responded to assist at the scene.
