Marquette, MI – Spring warmth will take a backseat in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula this weekend as snow chances creep back into Marquette’s forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, a stretch of mostly sunny and calm spring weather will give way to a sharp cooldown starting Sunday evening. Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s overnight with snow showers likely by Sunday night and again Monday. Anyone traveling along US-41 or heading outdoors should plan ahead for slick conditions and limited visibility, particularly late Sunday and into the Monday morning commute.
Friday offers a brief glimpse of ideal spring weather, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 43°F. Winds will be light, shifting eastward into the afternoon. Saturday follows with a high near 40°F and a slight chance of rain showers before 2 p.m., but conditions stay mostly dry.
By Sunday, however, a cold front will bring a 30% chance of snow showers during the day with daytime highs peaking around 36°F. Nighttime lows will dip to 24°F, and more snow is possible Monday morning with highs only reaching 28°F.
Tuesday and Wednesday offer relief, with sunny skies and warming temperatures reaching 49°F by midweek. Still, residents should brace for a wintry stretch before spring conditions return.
Travelers and residents are urged to monitor local weather updates and use caution during evening and early morning hours Sunday through Monday.
