Paducah, KY – Flooding concerns are rising across western Kentucky as severe spring weather pushes into the region heading into the weekend. Paducah remains under a Flood Watch through 7 a.m. Sunday, with a surge of thunderstorms expected Friday and Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple rounds of storms could bring heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and damaging winds. Friday’s high near 79°F and strong south winds between 6 to 13 mph will set the stage for volatile weather. Thunderstorms are expected to ramp up after 3 p.m., with a significant risk for severe conditions Friday night and Saturday. Rainfall totals may exceed 2 inches in some areas, especially near low-lying roads and creeks, including routes like Interstate 24, which may be vulnerable to brief closures or delays.

Saturday brings continued rain with highs near 71°F, with more thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Gusts could reach up to 21 mph. By Sunday morning, showers taper off, but temperatures drop dramatically heading into Monday.

Safety Tip: Residents should clear storm drains, avoid driving through flooded roads, and prepare for sudden weather shifts through the weekend. Stay updated via NOAA Weather Radio and local emergency alerts.
