Monroe, MI – A vehicle pursuit in Monroe Friday evening ended with the arrest of an 18-year-old male and the recovery of a stolen SUV, according to the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office.
Authorities said the incident began around 7:17 p.m. Friday when Monroe County Sheriffโs deputies and Monroe Public Safety officers were alerted by FLOCK of a stolen vehicle near East Elm Avenue and I-75. The vehicle, a gray 2013 Ford Edge, had been reported stolen earlier that day from Oakridge Estates Mobile Home Park in Monroe Township.
According to the Sheriffโs Office, Deputy Austin Graham located the vehicle traveling eastbound on East Elm near Detroit Avenue. After initially pulling over, the driver allegedly fled at high speeds, reaching up to 80 mph before crashing through a fence and onto the property of a business in the 3200 block of East Elm.
Police said three occupants exited the vehicle on foot. Officers quickly apprehended two juveniles, ages 15 and 17, while Deputy Brent Thomas arrested the driver. The juveniles were released to parents or guardians with potential charges pending, while the 18-year-old was lodged at the Monroe County Jail.
The suspect faces charges of fleeing and eluding, as well as receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle. Authorities said evidence recovered from the SUV also linked the group to multiple larceny-from-vehicle cases in Monroe and nearby counties.
The case remains under investigation by the Sheriffโs Office Uniformed Services Division. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7758.
