Oakland County, MI – A Flint mother has been charged with felony murder and child abuse following the death of her 3-year-old son.
Latonya Shante Thomas, 27, is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $1 million bond. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call on Perry Place on April 25, finding the child unresponsive. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An autopsy confirmed the child, Zaveion Thomas, had injuries consistent with assault. Thomas was arrested Thursday in Flint without incident. Her probable cause conference is set for June 25.
