Michigan Man, Son Found Clinging to Rocks After Lake Erie Boat Crash on Fourth of July

Monroe, MI – A Michigan man and his son were found clinging to rocks in Lake Erie following a boat crash near Bolles Harbor on Thursday night, leaving both critically injured.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, the crash happened around 11:26 p.m. The 62-year-old man and his 38-year-old son were discovered near the Hoffman Memorial Fishing Pier. Preliminary reports indicate their 1983 Chris-Craft boat struck the seawall near channel marker #10.

Both victims were transported to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo. Speed and alcohol are suspected factors. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7703 or 734-240-7729.
