Carol Stream, IL – A Michigan man is facing multiple felony charges after Illinois police discovered a loaded gun hidden in his slipper following an alleged catalytic converter theft at a local animal hospital.

Anthony Huggins, 33, of Inkster, Michigan, was denied pre-trial release during his court appearance on Monday. Huggins is charged with Bringing a Firearm Into a Penal Institution (Class X Felony), Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony), and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony), among other charges. His co-defendant, Clinton Bigelow, 33, of Warren, Michigan, also faces charges but was not detained pre-trial.

Police responded to the Carol Stream Animal Hospital on Monday afternoon after an employee reported seeing someone crawl under her vehicle. Officers stopped a suspect vehicle shortly after, allegedly finding seven stolen catalytic converters in the back seat. While processing Huggins at the Carol Stream Police Department, officers reportedly discovered a stolen Glock 43 concealed in his slipper.

Both men are due back in court on December 23.
