Marshall, MI – A wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning on Interstate 94 temporarily shut down eastbound lanes and sent two people to the hospital.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:20 a.m. to a multi-vehicle crash near the 107-mile marker on I-94. Authorities reported that a pickup truck traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes struck another vehicle occupied by two individuals. Both sustained injuries and were taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. The male passenger’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Deputies identified the wrong-way driver as a 50-year-old Lansing man, who was allegedly highly intoxicated at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. The driver was arrested at the scene and booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
As a result of the incident, eastbound lanes of I-94 were temporarily closed but have since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
