Air temperatures will reach around 90 degrees, but high humidity will make conditions feel significantly hotter. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., though most neighborhoods will remain hot and partly sunny through the afternoon.
The greatest impacts will be felt on sidewalks, construction sites, athletic fields, parks, and along busy travel corridors including Interstate 95, Florida’s Turnpike, I-595, U.S. 1, and the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836). Motorists should remember that vehicle interiors can become dangerously hot within minutes. Anyone traveling through Miami International Airport should also stay hydrated while moving between parking areas and terminals.
Tuesday brings little relief. High temperatures again reach 90 degrees, with heat index values near 103 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday remains sunny and hot with another high near 90 degrees, continuing the prolonged period of above-normal warmth. A few isolated showers return Thursday night, but widespread cooling is not expected.
Across the Gulf Coast, meteorologists continue monitoring Tropical Depression Two, which is forecast to strengthen gradually while remaining well west of South Florida. Current National Hurricane Center projections keep the heaviest rainfall away from the Miami area, although residents should continue monitoring official updates.
To reduce the risk of heat-related illness, drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, take frequent breaks in air conditioning, and check on older adults, children, neighbors, and pets. Heat exhaustion can develop quickly during the afternoon.
