Memphis, TN – Memphis residents are enduring the final day of an intense heat wave, with temperatures expected to reach dangerous levels. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued an Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory for the region, in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Heat indices are forecasted to soar between 105 and 110 degrees, with some areas potentially exceeding 110 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will push through the entire Mid-South by late afternoon, bringing much-needed relief from the extreme temperatures. The front is expected to significantly drop temperatures over the next seven days, with only a very low chance of showers or thunderstorms accompanying the cooler air.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day, and be vigilant for signs of heat illness. With the arrival of the cold front, the Mid-South can anticipate a break from the oppressive heat that has gripped the region in recent days.
