Harvard, IL – A 40-year-old Harvard man was ejected from his vehicle and killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred around 9:36 a.m. in the 9900 block of Lawrence Road in unincorporated Harvard.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man was driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when it veered off the roadway to the east. The vehicle rolled over multiple times as it continued moving in a southern direction before coming to a stop in a standing cornfield. The force of the rollover ejected the driver from the Jeep, leading to fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders from the Harvard Fire Department, MD1, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office arrived swiftly, but the driver’s injuries were too severe. Authorities confirmed the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time, which likely contributed to his ejection from the vehicle.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
