Salem, N.H. – A Massachusetts woman faces multiple charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 93 Sunday night.
Around 10:45 p.m., Trooper William Moran of Troop B noticed a car traveling north in the southbound lanes near Exit 1. Trooper Moran paralleled the car on the northbound side before crossing over and stopping the driver safely near Exit 2.
The driver, identified as 49-year-old Deirdre Masi of Lowell, Massachusetts, was arrested at the scene. Charges include driving while intoxicated – subsequent offense, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, and criminal threatening.
Authorities detained Masi at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections under preventative detention. She is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court today for arraignment.
According to New Hampshire State Police, swift action by law enforcement prevented potential harm to other drivers.
