Boston, MA – A winter storm will hit Massachusetts on Sunday, bringing up to 6 inches of snow, ice accumulation, and hazardous travel conditions. The storm is expected to intensify throughout the day, making roadways slick and reducing visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Snow will start in the morning before transitioning to a wintry mix and then rain in the afternoon. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, increasing the risk of power outages and fallen branches.
Washington’s Birthday on Monday will see partly sunny skies with a high near 29°F, offering a brief break before another cold front moves in midweek. Temperatures are expected to plummet, with Arctic air gripping much of the country, bringing subzero wind chills.
Drivers should avoid unnecessary travel Sunday afternoon, as roads will be slick and dangerous. Those flying from Logan International Airport should check for possible flight delays or cancellations.
