Boston, MA – Sweltering heat and a round of thunderstorms are set to clash Saturday across Massachusetts, kicking off a dangerous weekend weather pattern. Daytime highs near 94°F and a spike in humidity could push heat index values toward triple digits by the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Friday, followed by an Excessive Heat Watch from Sunday morning through 8 p.m. Tuesday. Storm chances rise early Saturday morning, with scattered thunderstorms possible by late afternoon. Gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and brief power outages may accompany stronger cells.

Saturday’s heat will be especially intense for communities along Route 1 and the I-93 corridor, including Boston, Quincy, and Woburn. If you’re out and about, stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Heat-related illnesses are more likely with prolonged exposure, especially for seniors, children, and outdoor workers.

Sunday through Tuesday brings the core of the heat wave, with heat index values exceeding 110°F. Prepare now by checking A/C units, stocking water, and planning for limited outdoor activity.

Showers return by Thursday, offering a brief cool-down. Until then, the state remains in a high-risk pattern for heat stress and isolated storm impacts.

⚠️ More heat alerts may be issued into next week. Monitor NWS Norton for updates.
