BOSTON, MA – The morning tide is running high and fast across the Massachusetts coast, where damp air and low gray clouds signal a stormy November transition. Waves are already pushing onto low-lying roads near Boston Harbor as high tides combine with onshore winds — the first sign of what could be a soggy, wind-swept weekend for eastern Massachusetts.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, a Coastal Flood Statement remains in effect through early afternoon for Boston, Quincy, Revere, and Cape Ann. Minor flooding up to one foot above ground is possible in vulnerable zones during the midmorning high tide. Drivers should avoid flooded roads near shorelines and tidal inlets, including Morrissey Boulevard, Wollaston Beach, and the Seaport area, where saltwater routinely covers low pavement during high-impact tides.

Conditions remain breezy today with highs near 57°F before rain develops late this evening. The steadiest rainfall arrives early Saturday and continues through Sunday, with a brief break Saturday afternoon as winds turn northwest. Rainfall totals could approach an inch in coastal Essex and Suffolk counties, enough to keep soil saturated and raise concerns for minor tidal flooding again at Sunday’s high tide.

Temperatures will stay mild through the weekend before dropping sharply by Monday as colder air sweeps in from the north. Winds could gust up to 30 mph Sunday night, bringing a brisk end to the weekend and a taste of early winter chill ahead of Veterans Day.

For now, coastal residents should prepare for standing water near shore, secure loose outdoor items, and plan travel around the Friday morning high tide — the highest of this cycle.
