Boston, Massachusetts – Storms will rumble back into Massachusetts Sunday evening, bringing the risk of lightning, fog, and slick roads across Greater Boston.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are possible in the Boston area after 2 a.m. Monday, with scattered showers beginning earlier Sunday night. A summer weather alert remains in effect as wet conditions may impact travel on major corridors, including I-93 and Route 1. Residents should stay weather-aware and avoid unnecessary late-night driving.

Sunday will bring a break in the clouds, with partly sunny skies and a high near 73°F. Winds will shift east by afternoon at 6 to 9 mph, helping to push warm, humid air into the region. By evening, showers will move in, with a 40% chance of rain that increases overnight.

Boston may see additional showers into Monday, especially before 2 p.m. Expect a cooler day with highs around 67°F. Showers could return again Tuesday, with the best chance for widespread rain Tuesday night. Travel may be impacted in low-visibility areas or poorly drained roadways through midweek.

By midweek, sunshine returns and temperatures rise, bringing a true taste of June by Thursday and Friday.
