Boston, Massachusetts – The heat in Massachusetts is turning dangerous Monday, with temperatures pushing toward 93° and heat index values nearing 100° across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Norton, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for much of Southern New England, excluding the Berkshires and the South Coast. The advisory covers Suffolk, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Essex counties, including Boston, Worcester, Lowell, and Brockton, where heat illnesses may occur without proper precautions.
Anyone traveling along Interstate 93 or Route 128 should plan for limited relief from the heat, especially in areas with poor air circulation or full sun exposure. Residents are urged to drink fluids, limit outdoor activity, and stay in air-conditioned spaces. Vulnerable individuals — including children, seniors, and those without cooling access — should be checked on frequently.
Monday night brings a 40% chance of evening storms, but it won’t bring much cooling relief. Tuesday remains hot with a high near 88°, followed by additional storms by Tuesday night.
