Maryland – A cold front will bring blustery winds and snow showers to western Maryland Friday, potentially impacting travel along I-68. Residents should prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility in affected areas.

According to the National Weather Service, accumulating snow will taper off by Friday afternoon, with temperatures remaining below freezing across the state. Highs will peak at 31 degrees near Baltimore, while western regions could see morning lows in the teens. Gusty winds of up to 41 mph will create hazardous wind chills.

Looking ahead, Friday night is forecast to bring a 40% chance of snow, with up to an inch of accumulation expected. By Saturday, precipitation will transition to a mix of snow and rain, particularly in central Maryland, before clearing by the evening. Highs Saturday will reach the mid-30s.

The hazardous outlook includes a Gale Warning for the Chesapeake Bay and nearby rivers, in effect until 6 p.m. today. Small craft operators should exercise caution.

The extended forecast predicts mostly clear skies Sunday and Monday, with highs nearing 39 degrees. However, another cold front could develop by midweek, bringing a chance of snow showers.

Drivers along I-68 and commuters statewide are urged to check road conditions before traveling and dress in layers to stay warm. Residents near the Chesapeake Bay should secure loose items due to high winds.
