Baltimore, MD – Snow and sleet are moving across Maryland and parts of northern Virginia this morning, with impacts expected along major highways, including I-81 and I-95. Pockets of drizzle and sleet are creating hazardous travel conditions east of the mountains.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will overspread areas east of US-15 by noon before transitioning to wet snow. The heaviest snowfall is expected between 1–5 p.m., with total accumulation varying across the region. Light precipitation will continue into the evening before tapering off east of the mountains between 7–9 p.m.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution as icy conditions are possible on untreated surfaces. The Washington, D.C., metro area could see periods of reduced visibility due to the mix of snow and sleet. Commuters in areas such as Leesburg, Hagerstown, and Frederick should plan for delays.

For those in affected areas, ensure vehicles are equipped with winter safety supplies and limit unnecessary travel. For updated road conditions and closures, visit local DOT websites or weather.gov.
