Baltimore, MD – Drivers across central Maryland and the D.C. corridor are waking to a thick, milky haze this Sunday morning as a Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington warns that temperatures near freezing could cause icy patches on bridges, ramps, and untreated roadways — especially along I-95, I-70, and Route 40.

The fog is expected to gradually lift through mid-morning as light winds return from the south, but visibility may drop below a quarter mile in spots before improving. Motorists should reduce speeds, use low beams, and allow extra space when traveling. Pedestrians are also urged to use caution on slick sidewalks and parking lots.

Once the fog clears, the region will enjoy mostly sunny skies and a mild high near 43°F, setting up a calmer pattern into early Monday. The next notable change arrives Wednesday, when a weak front brings a 30% chance of rain and slightly warmer temperatures near 49°F before cooler air returns to end the week.

Looking ahead, models suggest a colder, stormier stretch between December 11–17 could follow this quiet spell, as Arctic air expands eastward into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast — possibly the first true winter blast of the season.

Five-Day Outlook (Baltimore, MD)

  • Wednesday: Chance of rain, high 49°F.
