Baltimore, Md. – Communities along the Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac could see minor to moderate coastal flooding through the weekend, with the greatest impacts expected during high tide. The National Weather Service warns water levels may spill onto roadways and flood-prone properties in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, repeated high tide cycles will push water inland, creating localized flooding across Anne Arundel, Calvert, St. Mary’s, and Charles counties. Annapolis, Alexandria, and Washington, D.C., may also experience water over docks and into nearby streets.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and parking lots, especially along waterfront areas where water levels can rise quickly. Officials recommend moving vehicles to higher ground and preparing for detours near marinas, shore roads, and neighborhoods with poor drainage.

Residents in flood-prone communities are advised to keep emergency kits ready and follow any evacuation guidance from local authorities. Those who become stranded should stay indoors and move to higher floors if water levels rise.

Coastal flood advisories remain in effect through the weekend, with additional alerts possible if winds or tides intensify.
