Baltimore, Md. – A line of strong thunderstorms could sweep across central Maryland Monday afternoon into Tuesday evening, bringing threats of heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a slow-moving low-pressure system will trigger rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Tuesday, with some storms potentially reaching severe levels by Monday evening. Southeastern winds around 5 to 10 mph may intensify with storm development. High temperatures will hover between 70 and 78 degrees on Monday before cooling slightly Tuesday.

Cities including Baltimore, Annapolis, Rockville, and Frederick could see brief periods of downpours that may cause ponding on roads and impact the evening commute. Residents in southern Maryland and along I-95 should prepare for reduced visibility and the possibility of isolated power outages due to lightning or wind damage.

The risk of storms continues into Tuesday with highs near 78 degrees, though drier, more stable air is expected to arrive by Wednesday. Temperatures midweek will return to seasonable norms, with highs in the upper 70s and sunshine likely.

Thunderstorm chances diminish by late Tuesday night. Residents should stay weather-aware and monitor local alerts for potential watches or warnings.
