Baltimore, MD – Rain and snow showers are forecast today as a low-pressure system sweeps through Maryland, creating slick conditions for drivers and pedestrians. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 43°F, but wet roadways, particularly on I-95 and surrounding areas, may slow down Friday commutes.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the rain and snow mix will continue into the evening before turning to rain overnight, with temperatures dropping to 32°F. Drivers should exercise caution, especially during peak travel times, as freezing temperatures could lead to icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Saturday promises mostly sunny skies with highs near 36°F, although gusty winds reaching up to 31 mph will make it feel significantly colder. Overnight lows will plummet to 19°F, marking a frigid night for the region. By Sunday, temperatures will rebound slightly with clear skies and highs around 31°F, creating more favorable conditions for holiday shopping or outdoor activities.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will bring sunny to partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 42°F by midweek. However, another chance of rain is forecast for Christmas Day, potentially impacting holiday travel.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for rapidly changing conditions, especially today, and recommends keeping emergency kits in vehicles and dressing in warm, layered clothing. Be sure to check for real-time updates from the Maryland Department of Transportation for road conditions.

Stay weather-aware this weekend to ensure your safety while enjoying the holiday season.
