Maryland – Bright sunshine reflects off the Inner Harbor this morning while a brisk breeze sweeps across Baltimore’s waterfront. The air feels crisp and dry now, but a major shift in March weather is already lining up. By Sunday night, rain could spread across the region and soak the Monday commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, temperatures climb toward 52 degrees today under partly sunny skies. South winds strengthen through midday, with gusts reaching 35 mph at times. The breezy pattern continues into the afternoon before skies clear later tonight.
Saturday remains relatively quiet across the Baltimore metro area. Clouds gradually increase while temperatures rise to about 55 degrees. Light winds and dry air should keep conditions comfortable for most outdoor plans across the city and nearby suburbs.
Sunday begins mostly cloudy but noticeably milder. Afternoon highs reach about 56 degrees as southerly winds draw warmer air into the Mid-Atlantic. Meteorologists now track a developing storm system moving toward the region.
Rain chances increase late Sunday evening. Conditions may deteriorate quickly after sunset as showers expand northward across central Maryland. Drivers along I-95, I-83, and the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) may encounter slick pavement and reduced visibility.
The wet pattern intensifies Monday. Rain becomes widespread with a 100 percent chance of precipitation, and temperatures surge to around 66 degrees. Breezy winds could accompany heavier showers and possible thunderstorms during the afternoon.
Plan extra travel time if commuting Monday. Wet pavement and gusty winds may slow traffic throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor.
Showers gradually taper Tuesday morning before cooler air returns to the region. Even so, longer-range signals suggest warmer-than-normal temperatures may build again later next week.
