Indianapolis, IN – A Sunday morning traffic stop in downtown Indianapolis led to the arrest of an 18-year-old wanted on a felony murder warrant, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

IMPD reported the arrest happened just before 5 a.m. on September 14, 2025, when a Downtown District officer pulled over a car for traffic violations. Of the four occupants, one backseat passenger was confirmed to have an active warrant connected to a 2024 homicide. He was taken into custody without incident, while the other three were released.

According to IMPD, the warrant stems from the October 10, 2024, murder of 26-year-old Jose Hernandez in the 300 block of Park Haven Way. Detectives determined Hernandez was allegedly killed during a robbery, leading investigators to identify two suspects. Warrants were issued for Brittany Norton, now 33, and a then-juvenile male, who has since turned 18.

Police said Norton was arrested earlier this year on January 3, also on a murder warrant. The arrest of the second suspect now brings both individuals into custody as the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the case.

IMPD emphasized that an arrest and charges are allegations, and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
