Mapleton, MN – Three people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash south of Mapleton on Saturday afternoon. Deputies, along with the Mapleton Fire Department and MN Lake Ambulance, responded to the incident at County Road 29 and 584th Avenue.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office reported that Corey Matthew Jaeger, 40, of Mapleton was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger northbound on 584th Avenue. Simultaneously, Freeborn Lewis Milks, 25, of Wells was traveling west on County Road 29 in a 2005 Buick Le Sabre with 23-year-old passenger Taylor Celine Jacobson, also from Wells.
Jaeger suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene, while Milks and Jacobson were transported by ambulance. Authorities have not released additional details on their conditions.
Officials are investigating the crash’s cause. A yield sign at the intersection directs northbound drivers on 584th Avenue to yield to County Road 29 traffic. The Sheriff’s Office has yet to determine if traffic violations or other factors played a role in the collision.
