Manhattan, IL – A Manhattan Fire Protection District ambulance was struck by another vehicle Monday in Bourbonnais while en route to Riverside Hospital.
The collision occurred during patient transport. Fortunately, the patient inside the ambulance sustained no additional injuries and was safely transferred to Bourbonnais Fire Protection District personnel for continued care.
According to the Manhattan Fire Protection District, the ambulance crew was unharmed. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The accident temporarily disrupted traffic in the area but was cleared shortly after. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation by local authorities.
