Caribou, ME – A mix of rain and snow is set to impact northern Maine early this week, with possible flooding concerns as spring officially begins Thursday. Wet conditions will persist through Tuesday night, with colder temperatures leading to snow accumulation in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain will develop late Monday and continue into Tuesday before transitioning to snow in parts of northern Maine, including Caribou. Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s Tuesday night, allowing for light snow accumulation. Winds will also pick up, with gusts up to 20 mph.
Drivers along Route 1 should prepare for wet and potentially icy conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Standing water from Monday’s rainfall combined with overnight freezing temperatures could lead to slick roads.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 49°F, offering a brief break from wet conditions. However, more rain is expected Thursday night into Friday, followed by a chance of snow showers over the weekend.
With fluctuating temperatures and mixed precipitation, residents should stay informed about changing conditions. As spring officially begins, northern Maine will see both winter’s lingering grip and the first signs of seasonal change.
