Caribou, Maine – Gray clouds hang low across Aroostook County, damp roads glisten from recent showers, and more unsettled weather is lining up for northern Maine. While brief breaks of sunshine will appear at times, residents should keep umbrellas nearby as multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms move through the region over the next several days.

According to the National Weather Service, showers remain likely across the Caribou area through much of Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the lower 70s. Patchy morning fog and scattered showers could briefly reduce visibility, especially on rural roads and higher terrain.

The weather becomes more active Monday. Meteorologists are tracking another round of showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Caribou could reach 74 degrees before storms begin forming. Rain chances increase significantly by Monday evening, with precipitation probabilities reaching 60 percent.

Travelers along U.S. Route 1, Route 89, and secondary roads across Aroostook County should prepare for wet pavement and occasional reduced visibility. While widespread severe weather is not expected, any thunderstorm can produce brief heavy rainfall and localized ponding on roadways.

Tuesday currently appears to be the wettest day of the extended outlook. Rain chances rise to 80 percent, with showers and thunderstorms possible through much of the day. Outdoor plans may require flexibility, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

By Wednesday, conditions improve somewhat, though scattered showers remain possible. Temperatures gradually climb into the mid-70s, offering a more summer-like feel despite the continued unsettled pattern.

Long-range trends suggest temperatures may trend above normal later next week across parts of northern New England, though periodic rain chances are expected to remain part of the picture.
